Co-Creating Wellbeing in New York State
Timeline: 2018-2020
Client: Health Foundation For Western and Central New York
Co-Creating Wellbeing is a multi-year, three phase initiative to create trauma-informed supports with children and families.
Overlap and the Foundation collaboratively planned a project that would use a human-centred design approach to educate providers on the role trauma plays in maternal and early childhood health and improve services available to mothers and young children. A key element of the project would be creating supports with input and engagement from children and families.
Overlap has worked with the Health Foundation and a range of subject matter experts during the implementation of this initiative to build the capacity of service providers in understanding and addressing trauma. We delivered a series of two-day training sessions, webinars, and resources enabling providers to engage families in co-developing trauma-informed support strategies. The webinar topics include Asking Better Questions, Creating an Engagement Plan, and Trauma-Informed Approaches to Collecting Data. When the initial round of engagement wrapped up, Overlap led a collaborative data synthesis session with Foundation staff and service providers, and produced a report on the findings.
