Overlap Certified as a Women-Owned Business
A Message from Overlap’s Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Lisa Grogan
It brings me great pride to share with you that Overlap has been Certified as a Women-Owned Business through WEConnect International.
As Co-Founders and Co-CEOs, Brock Hart and I have worked together to build this incredible company. Since 2011, we have had the privilege of partnering with some of the most innovative organizations, visionary leaders, and true design-doers in multiple countries.
We have always had strong women leaders at Overlap and this Certification is meaningful for our entire team.
This is an important moment for Overlap as a business. It’s an important moment for me as a female entrepreneur.
We all know that much progress has been made for women in the workplace, and I have seen significant, positive changes over the course of my career. I have many women, including my own grandmothers who fought for the right to vote in Canada, to thank for their strength, perseverance and conviction to get us to where we are in 2020. And a special thank you to Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who has inspired millions of people through her character and heroic actions.
And yet, there is still so much to do. I’m excited to get to work and raise my voice across the entrepreneurial landscape both here in Canada and the UK – promoting, supporting and advocating for Equity.
There are a number of Certification programs out there – I chose WEConnect International given its global reach, profile and value as a platform for mentorship and learning among business leaders. I first became aware of WEConnect when I attended the Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society in France in 2016. I was inspired by the many women entrepreneurs and global corporate partners who actively champion procuring from diverse-owned and women-owned businesses. I’ve learned so much more since then and am delighted to now be part of this global network of people.
I want to say a special thank you to Brock, who has been and continues to be, a trusted business partner, friend and feminist. This Certification is a wonderful tribute to our unique approach to co-leadership and to our business model.
We are incredibly lucky to count on you as someone who believes in Overlap. I probably don’t say it enough – thank you for being part of our journey.
