Jim Dale is an independent business consultant with over fifteen years’ experience specializing in small business finance, organization and general management.
Jim works closely with small business owners, providing sound advice on a variety of executive matters including financial integrity and control, business strategy, ownership transition, and staff management.
Prior to this, Jim developed a successful 15-year career with a major Canadian financial institution (Scotiabank and its predecessor institution). At the peak of Jim’s banking career, he managed a team of business banking professionals responsible for developing business and managing credit risk. The core of Jim’s work was in the small business sector.
Jim enjoys a rewarding career as a freelance chief financial officer for a variety of service-based businesses. He participates with his clients as a fully functioning executive team member responsible for guiding the accounting staff, providing management reports to owners and liaising on behalf of his clients with third-party professionals such as banks and external accountants. With an understanding of the
“other side of the lender’s desk”, Jim has successfully negotiated a variety of bank loan facilities for his clients including operating lines of credit and related banking services.
Jim has also studied and developed a career in personal growth, goal setting, and training and organizational development. He has worked with many organizations to help them develop their individual and organizational leadership effectiveness.
Jim holds a Master’s Of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Abilene Christian University, Abilene Texas. Jim has achieved facilitator certifications with both an international development organization as well as with Scotiabank and before that, National Trust.
Jim currently resides in Waterloo with his wife, Amy, and is actively involved in his local church in a leadership capacity and has direct experience at the board level, having been a Director of the Board of a private Christian High School for 9 years.
